Pastoral Partnership Now Underway in Ohio
By Kristine Stremel
The Province of Mexico’s Hispanic Pastoral Partnership in the Diocese of Toledo is underway! Fr. Patrick Keyes, C.Ss.R., has joined Redemptorists Fr. Aaron Moreno, C.Ss.R., and Fr. Roberto Morales, C.Ss.R., to prepare, inspire and encourage pastoral leaders within the Hispanic community in the rural northwest corner of Ohio. The Redemptorists are currently meeting with the Spanish-speaking community, which is made up primarily of farmworkers with temporary agricultural visas and a large group of people who work in other related industries and now live full time in the U.S.
The missionaries are working in three centers in the diocese: Wauseon in the northwest; Willard in the northeast; and St. Gerard Parish in Lima in the southcentral part of the diocese. The Redemptorists are spending a month at a time in the centers, offering a two-week leadership training course by zoom and hosting a day of retreat. In addition to celebrating the Sunday Mass, the priests are offering a penance service and an anointing of the sick service. They spend days visiting people in their homes, celebrating Mass in the migrant camps, and being available for confession or spiritual guidance. In a few weeks, they will be preaching a novena to Our Lady of Guadalupe. Please remember them and the success of the pastoral partnership in prayer.
