Partners in Mission Spirituality Workshop 2025
The Redemptorists started our ministry to proclaim the Good News especially to those on the margins of society in 1732, almost 300 years ago. Throughout our history, we have not been alone in this task. There have been many lay people who have worked with us to make our ministry possible. This partnership with the laity reflects the influence of our founder St. Alphonsus who saw the need for lay ministry in the church and acted upon it. Many poor people in Naples at that time were not welcome in mainstream churches and thus St. Alphonsus met with them in shops and on the streets to proclaim the message of God’s Mercy. He was able to engage them in their faith and they in turn became ministers to others. St. Alphonsus helped people understand their baptismal call and the importance of sharing the faith. Many of those who received the preaching of God’s redemption became coworkers in the same mission.
The spirit of our founder is still alive in the Redemptorists’ ministries today which include the many lay people who have embraced our work and our spirituality as the foundation for how they live their Catholic faith. We refer to this group of people as our Partners in Mission.
Spirituality Workshop 2025
In this spirit, we are once again offering our introductory Redemptorist Spirituality Workshop on Tuesday, March 4, 2025, at 7pm CT. This initial gathering will offer an overview of both the workshop and our Redemptorist Associates ministry. It is a workshop for anyone who wants to learn more about the Redemptorists and Redemptorist spirituality. It is a unique opportunity and can be attended from the comfort of one’s home via Zoom. The attached brochure includes the Zoom link as well as contact information and the dates of follow-up sessions.
The Redemptorists of the Denver Province conduct this workshop to help people understand their spirituality and as well the spirituality of the Redemptorists and our Partners in Mission. Everyone has a call from God through baptism to be a part of God’s family. Each person attempts to understand his or her call and at the same time recognize God’s call to all humanity especially to be disciples of Jesus. One aspect of this call is to understand the spirituality that manifests itself through a unique expression of divine love.
This workshop is meant to help people reflect on the importance of spirituality in their lives, and how Christian Spirituality focuses attention on a path to eternal life shown to us in Christ. The path that one takes to follow Christ can vary with the understanding of our baptismal call. This workshop will explore our understanding of a specific type of spirituality focused on Jesus the Redeemer. As this approach is presented, the charism and spirituality of the Redemptorists will also be shared. This will help people understand how our charism is made real through the Redemptorist Family. People who participate in this workshop will gain an understanding of the importance of Christian Spirituality and how the Redemptorists have focused their lives to be expressions of Jesus the Redeemer.
The workshop is meant to be informative and as well a means to help people focus on their own approach to spirituality. What started out as a retreat has evolved into an online program. This year marks the sixth time we have conducted these virtual gatherings during the Lent and Easter season. The Denver Province continues to meet the needs of the Catholic Church in the U.S.; our partners are an integral part of that mission. Many of our partners are actively involved in our parishes, Seelos shrine, retreat houses, apostolic priorities and mission preaching but also have chosen their own ministry to work with people on the margins of society.
