Perspectives on Unification
As we continue to graciously celebrate the 30th anniversary of the Redemptorists’ Denver Province, we give thanks for three decades of faithful missionary service, generous ministry, and commitment to proclaiming the Gospel to the poor and the most abandoned. This milestone also invites us to look toward the future with hope as the Holy Spirit leads us into the next chapter of our Redemptorist mission.
For the past several years, the Redemptorists of the Denver, Baltimore, and Mexico Provinces have been engaged in a process of prayerful collaboration, discernment, and planning as we prepare to unite for mission. Rooted in our shared Redemptorist identity and inspired by a common vision for the future, this journey has strengthened our commitment to proclaiming the Gospel together across North America.
Beginning in 2027, our three provinces will unite to form one new province: The Seelos Province of North America.
Named in honor of Blessed Francis Xavier Seelos, the new province celebrates the legacy of a Bavarian Redemptorist missionary who crossed borders to answer God’s call and serve the Church in the United States. His life of missionary zeal, pastoral charity, and joyful fidelity to the Redeemer continues to inspire us to respond generously to the needs of today’s world.
This unification is an effort to strengthen the Redemptorist mission for generations to come as we respond to the needs of the Church and the world that we live in. The Gospel calls us to respond with the same missionary zeal that inspired our founder, Saint Alphonsus Liguori, nearly three centuries ago. By bringing together the history, experience, gifts, and resources of these three provinces, we seek to better serve the people entrusted to our care, especially the poor and most abandoned.
As a part of this ongoing process, this June, nearly 140 Redemptorists and lay partners from across the United States and Mexico gathered outside of Mexico city at our United for Mission Assembly to share, reflect, and imagine the future of the Seelos Province.
In this special issue of At the Table, we will share perspectives from three individuals who are experiencing this journey from different vantage points of their experience, not just of the recent gathering, but of the future mission that we are building together:
- Toni Dunning, a Partner in Mission who serves alongside Redemptorists in ministry and witnesses firsthand the impact of our work.
- Adam Tran-Chung, a professed student preparing who is growing into his Redemptorist identity within this new reality.
- Patrick Keyes, a professed Redemptorist who has lived and ministered in all three provinces and has experienced the missionary spirit that each brings to this new chapter.
Together, these voices will help tell the story of unification. We invite you to walk this journey with us. Your prayers, encouragement, and support have helped sustain our mission, and they will continue to be an important part of our future as we move forward together as The Seelos Province of North America.”
